“How is it that we fail to to act right, see right, communicate right,
even though we have all the resources?
What are the indications of this failure?
What indicates that all is well?
Arjuna of the Indian epic Mahābhārata represents the model of what clouds our consciousness
and what can break this cloud.”
- TKV Desikachar’s introduction to a seminar on the Bhagavad Gītā 1998
To support the teaching of this important text we will be using the Gītārtha Saṃgraha of Śrī Yāmunācārya. This is an important commentary on the Gītā which very succinctly summarises each of its eighteen chapters into eighteen verses. As such it will be a valuable support for the study of the Gītā.
Complete in itself it offers an opportunity for a Yoga student from any Yoga background or style to experience an in-depth introduction to the Bhagavad Gītā.
It is also a sound overview of the context and theme of each of the eighteen chapters of the Bhagavad Gītā, each of which can also be further developed prerequisite to further work through the four Foundation Gītā workshops in the Foundation Gītā Study Programme..
To present a view of the Bhagavad Gītā through which students can support and develop their own practice and deepen their appreciation of the possibilities for the Gītā in their lives.
The role of this Course is not to train students as Yoga teachers although the Gītā Study Course will obviously enhance any Yoga teacher’s skills in the area of Yoga psychology and Yoga Therapy.
