Exploring Veda Mantra Chanting

The Art of Veda Mantra Module Two Sacred Sādhana Course is limited to a maximum of five students to allow for a personalised approach, interactive teaching and in-depth transmission between teacher and student. It offers a student a two weekend course on the primary principles and teachings from T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar on the Art of Yoga Chanting and Veda Mantra.

Based near Stroud, it is a two weekend course intended for those students, having completed 
an Art of Sounding and Chanting Module One Workshop, wish to explore further the primary principles and teachings on Veda Mantra Chanting and how it can inspire and guide our personal Chanting Sādhana or where relevant, our professional work in these areas for others.

Cotswolds

They are presented with the aim of reflecting the fundamentals of Śrī T Krishnamacharya’s teaching, namely, transmission occurs through the direct experience of the teacher with the students personal practice and study Sādhana.

Each Module comprises 4 days and offers in-depth practice offers in-depth practice of Veda Mantra which builds on the theory and practice principles taught within the Art of Sounding and Chanting Module One Workshop.

The Art of Veda Mantra Modular Courses are designed for interested students from any walk of life, or Yoga teachers and trainee teachers from any Yoga background, wanting an in-depth training to learn to practice the Art of Veda Mantra Chanting for developing a Sacred Sādhana.

All are welcome irrespective of any background though completion of an Art of Sound and Chanting Module One Workshop is necessary.

The Art of Veda Mantra Chanting – Modules Two to Three Framework

The Art of Veda Mantra – Module Two Sacred Sādhana Course aims to offer further in-depth experiential training in learning the Veda Mantra Chanting through:

  • An appreciation
    – and familiarity with the principles which inspire Veda Mantra Chanting practice.
  • Practicing how
    – to read Veda Mantra in Romanised Saṃskṛta.
  • Practicing how
    – to link and join Romanised Saṃskṛta to enhance our use and understanding of Veda Mantra Chanting.
  • Appreciating
    – Veda Mantra Chanting as therapeutic support and meditation.
  • Practicing skills
    – for teaching Veda Mantra Chanting in specialised Chanting applications.
  • Cultivating
    – the Art of Veda Mantra Chanting as a Sacred Sādhana.
  • Re-inforcing
    – the core principles which inspire the use of Veda Mantra Chanting practices.
  • Integrating
    – Veda Mantra Chanting into existing asana, pranayama and meditational practices.
  • Experiencing
    – how  Veda Mantra Chanting can be a tool to lead the student towards silence as a natural outcome.
  • Exploring
    – the possibilities for the use of Veda Mantra Chanting as a therapeutic tool for improving health and well being.
  • Discovering
    – how chanting can be used as a tool for learning Veda teachings on psychology or spirituality.

The Art of Veda Mantra – Module Two and Three Courses aim to offer further in-depth experiential training in Yoga Chanting and Veda Mantra through intensive Chanting practice days or weekends which build on the theory study and practice techniques learnt within the The Art of Sounding and Chanting – Module One Workshop.

Each meeting will be focused around Veda Mantra Chanting Practice with five sessions over each day offering around four-five hours Chanting experience to re-inforce the students personal understanding and skills for self practice between each weekend.

Each Module totals over 20 hours of tuition through working experientially with Veda Mantra Sacred Sādhana Teachings from the Veda and associated texts and opening and closing Dhyānam Śloka including:

  • Taittirīya Saṃhitā
    – Specialisation in selected Krama and Jaṭā versions
  • Taittirīya Saṃhitā
    – Introduction to selected Ghana versions
  • Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa
    – Specialisation in selected extracts
  • Taittirīya Āraṇyaka
    – Specialisation in selected extracts
  • Taittirīya Upaniṣad
    – Introduction to Chapter One
  • Taittirīya Upaniṣad
    – Specialisation in Chapter Three

Modules Two to Three comprise either a single 4 day Module or two 2 day Modules over 3 months.

Prospective students will have successfully completed The Art of Sounding Chanting – Module One Workshop.

The Art of Veda Mantra Chanting – Modules Two to Three Group Size and Dates

The Art of Yoga Veda Mantra Modular Courses is limited to a maximum of five students to allow for a personalised approach and in-depth transmission between teacher and student.

There will be either a single 4 day or 2 two day meetings spaced over three months. This is also a specialised learning intensive, so rather than fixing diary dates in advance each Course will be arranged once I have received around four applications from interested students.

The Art of Veda Mantra Chanting – Modules Two to Three Fees & Booking

The days are on Saturday from 10.30-6.45 and Sunday from 9.00-2.00.

The 2018 Course fee is based on a maximum of five students and will be £460 for each 4 day module.
The 2019 Course fee is based on a maximum of five students and will be £480 for each 4 day module.

For 2018 a deposit of £230 is required and the balance of £230 payable at the first meeting.
For 2019 a deposit of £240 is required and the balance of £240 payable at the first meeting.

The deposit will not be refundable but will be offset against the total fee. 
All the Personal Sādhana Modular Course Fees must be paid for even if the student is unable to attend.


The fees are payable at each meeting and the cost includes a 
further Course manual, tuition, vegetarian lunch each day, all refreshments plus supper on the overnight evenings.

All the Art of Personal Sādhana Modular Course deposits can be paid by Postal cheque or Bank draft. Please contact Paul to indicate your preference. Confirmation of your payment and place will be sent. All Fees are non-returnable and non-transferable. In the case of Courses not running an acceptable alternative or a full refund will be offered.

All the weekends are based in the Cotswolds with a country setting and retreat atmosphere.
